We’ve noticed that most preppers are God-fearing people. So, it will come as no surprise to you that we at Priority Prepper are also very religious. As such, we think it’s important to include items in your 72-hour kit that provide spiritual comfort, such as scriptures and other religious texts.

Emergencies can be scary, and it’s difficult to deal with them if you lose perspective of the reason why we are here on earth. Therefore, think about what will give you peace and strength during an emergency and add it to your 72-hour kit today!

Religious Items for Your 72-Hour Kit

We realize that you may have different beliefs than us, but we think most can agree that caring for your mental, emotional, and spiritual health during an emergency is critical. What that means to you might not be the same as for us.

Here are some ideas for religious items to include in your 72-Hour Kit:

  • Pocket Size Scriptures
  • Devotional Book
  • Inspirational Music on a Small Device
  • Contact Information for Religious Leaders

Consider including other items in your 72-hour kit that are specific to your religion that will bring you comfort. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here are some additional ideas for people who share our faith:

  • Consecrated Oil
  • Copies of Baptismal/Ordinance Records
  • Copy of Patriarchal Blessing
  • Church Magazines

Pocket-Size Scriptures

Books weigh a lot, so you don’t want to carry many in your 72-hour kit. If possible, only choose paperback copies. We think having some scriptures in your 72-hour kit can bring tremendous peace of mind during an emergency. You can get a pocket-size scripture set or a pocket-size Book of Mormon from Deseret Book.

Emergencies have a way of turning people to God. People who have never prayed before find themselves asking for divine help when faced with uncertain circumstances. We suspect this is all part of God’s plan. You can help others find peace and hope during an emergency if you are prepared with some scriptures.
