An emergency ID card is something your child can carry in a backpack or 72-hour kit that lets rescue workers know important information about them — medical problems, physical attributes, and your contact information!
We’ve talked about Why You Need to Put a Family Photo in Your 72-Hour Kit, but an emergency ID card takes this one step further…
Why You Need Emergency ID Cards
Emergency ID cards are important in all sorts of situations. Sure, certain children should always wear medical alert bracelets, but emergency ID cards contain even more information.

We like to think our kids will never get separated from us, but the fact is, it can happen. If your child is wearing a backpack with an emergency ID card inside, it will make it easier for someone to reunite you with your child.
Another reason to have emergency ID cards for your kids is to let first responders know of any allergies to medicines or other pertinent medical information about them. This can be life-saving information if your child gets injured or you cannot provide the medical information yourself, for whatever reason.
Note: We’ve seen some ID cards that have fingerprints. This is potentially useful information for the police, but not 100% necessary.
