One of the best ways to build your food storage is to buy the non-perishable items you eat frequently in bulk.

You can find good deals on bulk foods at Costco, Sam’s Club, WinCo, and even Wal-Mart. You can also watch for case-lot sales at your local grocery stores. However, we want to share with you another place where you can shop to build up your food storage — Home Storage Centers.

What Is a Home Storage Center?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints operates over 100 Home Storage Centers in the United States and Canada. They sell a variety of food storage items at low costs. Most of the items you can buy have a long shelf life and come in no.10 cans.

You DO NOT need to be a member of the church to shop at their Home Storage Centers. You can even shop online if you don’t mind paying for shipping.

How to Use Home Storage Centers

Church canneries are not the same thing as Home Storage Centers…

In 2013, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints closed its cannery operations to the public. People used to be able to go to a canning facility and can food storage items themselves or borrow canning machines. The canneries have been replaced with these Home Storage Centers where you can buy prepackaged food storage items instead.

Most Home Storage Centers are not large. When you arrive, you can take a cart through the aisles to select the items you want. Volunteer workers can assist you and answer any of your questions. There’s no reason to be intimidated to go. It works just like any other store.

You can find a current list of available products HERE.

Everyone should care about food storage. We hope you start using Home Storage Centers if you never have before.
